Day 1 / July 8, 2018

For the last 24 hours I have felt like I was going to throw up. I haven’t. That seems good.

I spent the first part of my day weeding my garden, which always makes me feel better. It is a space where, amazingly, everything else disappears. That seems good.

We have two of our favorite people visiting us from Boston right now. Definitely good.

They went on a bike adventure this afternoon. I wasn’t feeling quite up to it. But the ride is certainly going to be good for them.

My sweet cat, Chilita, has been following me around all day. Sleeping in the chair next to me, sleeping in the bed next to me, sleeping on the floor next to me. That is really good.

I remembered a really fun color mixing kitchen science experiment I am going to do with the kids at camp this week. Fill a small plate with milk. Drop a few drops of food coloring in the milk. Dip a Q-tip in some dish soap. Put the Q-tip into the milk. Just put it in, don’t mix it around. Watch. Add more color, add more soap. Do it again. I think this is going to be super good for the little campers. Try it out, might be good for you too.

“Play energizes us and enlivens us. It eases our burdens. It renews our natural sense of optimism and opens us up to new possibilities.” – Stuart Brown, MD, contemporary American psychiatrist.
