Day 6 - July 13, 2018
By far my favorite thing I am doing these days is working as a consultant with Center for Craft in Asheville. Specifically, I am developing public programs for families and children inspired by their exhibitions. The next show, opening in late August, is two artists–Tali Weinberg and Rena Detrixhe. Both artists’ practice considers human impact on the environment with a focus on climate change.
I sat down for the first time today to think about program ideas. After a week of thinking about play in other parts of my daily life, I realized my work today felt like play. It was effortless; I completely lost track of the time, and when I was done I felt excited to dive deeper into what these programs will look like and be.
“This is the real secret of life–to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now. And instead of calling it work, realize it is play.”
