And Justice For All
This is a picture of Patrisse Cullors and myself at the Rainbow Community school last month during MLK week. She is one of the women who started the #blacklivesmatter movement in 2013. Never in a million years did I think I would be in the same room with her, let alone getting her to autograph a copy of her book When They Call You a Terrorist, published last month. To be in the presence of an individual whose movement marks a pivotal time in American history is awe inspiring. When she speaks with love, passion, understanding and conviction all at once it causes one to question the sincerity and intelligence of some of the leaders in this country and abroad. In this picture we connected over our hair, big smiles and what an awesome time it is to be alive. When there are critical thinkers, problem solvers and rebels like her at the helm it really gives you hope and believe that you could effect change in the world, too.
