Observation of homeless females. Females becoming homeless is a common sight. Just the thought of packing everything I own into backpacks and plastic bags is overwhelming. Setting out daily, walking the streets, panhandling, and knowing I have to repeat these activities the next day gives me the heebie-jeebies. However, observing young ladies, mothers, and grandmothers living on the streets can be disturbing. Not that seeing men in this predicament is no less disturbing. But society feels that men can fend for themselves a little better. Homelessness does not discriminate, it is not prejudice, but it is preventable. Early warning signs and reaching out to friends, family members, and church communities can help prevent homelessness. There are organizations all over the United States that can assist with your situation. Furthermore, the homeless must comply with these organizations. In the process, these organizations will assist with drug addiction, alcoholism, and battered women’s programs, while also getting the individual acclimated back into a positive atmosphere with jobs, education, and dwellings. By contacting your city’s homeless hotlines, homelessness can be prevented.
