Stu Helm is a food writer living in Asheville, North Carolina. His humorous, swear-laced reviews and write-ups appear primarily in the pages of Food Life Magazine, as well as on Ashvegas, AVLToday, and his own website. Stu is one of the founders of the Asheville Coffee Expo, and he was the producer and host of The Food Fan podcast and radio show (WPVM 103.7fm, 2016 - 2018). As a visual artist, Stu had a 20-year-long career illustrating and doing graphic design for hundreds of businesses, magazines, books, bands, and individuals, including local Asheville favorites LaZoom comedy bus tours, Mamacita's Taqueria, and Grammy award winning children's hip-hop artist Secret Agent 23 Skidoo. Stu was the creator, editor, and main contributing artist to Asheville Flyer for Kids (2014 - 2017), a monthly newspaper for children. Stu is a well-known local social media figure, a downtown food tour guide, an "ambassador" to Asheville, and a frequent judge at food competitions. He's been interviewed by the Food Network, has appeared on the Travel Channel, and has been called an "influencer," as well a "small town celebrity" by WLOS News. Stu is also a strong proponent of reducing single-use plastics in the hospitality industry.
